Tas Police recently trialled laser on the Tasman Bridge (5 lane commuter
)in Hobart. They connected it to a laptop to record only speeds and volume
of traffic as it is not a legal speed enforcement device until legislation
is passed.
Devonport ( generally a large white van ):
1. Stoney Rise Road - just into 60kmh zone heading east on LHS behind
bushes.
2. Victoria Bridge - 100m after East Devonport lane merges when heading
east along highway. Is on RHS behind trees ( very difficult to see when
heading east, more obvious ( but can only see the camera and not much else
w/o looking when heading West ) or on LHS of above in gully between highway
and sliproad for East Devonport underneath trees.
3. Don Road - bottom of steep hill ( 60kph - camera normally set at about
80/85 ). Recently booked about 10% of all motorists when first used there
including some in 130k bracket.
4. Forth Road - On climb out of Don on RHS just after the medium left near
the top of the ascent. Is placed on top of the verge above roadway ( and
cars... )
Perth ( Tasmania - white Daewoo? ):
5. In car park just after bridge when entering from South ( 60zone).
6. 200m later at entrance or car park. Camera is left sitting on ground
next to guidepost while car is parked on road behind and below the verge -
great spot for revenue at night...
The white daewoo is now a burgandy colour, and their most popular spot is
Goderich St, 300 metres south of Mc Donalds in Invermay
Hobart :
7. Sandy Bay Road ( 60zone ) - in car park near Southern end of Marieville
Esplanade. Popular spot but hasn't been there for a while. Has been known
to put camera 200m further towards the city in a bid to catch people ( ahh,
no camera today (speed up)... shit! camera!....
8. Brooker Highway - underneath bridge before Montrose Bay Yacht Club (
when heading towards city ) 80zone.
1)On the left hand side heading towards the bridge, 300 metres back
from goverment house on a bank behind a tree.
Midlands Highway at Campbell Town
1)Heading north on the right hand side on the corner of Midlands
Highway and edgar street, thats about 600 metres after the Ampol service
station.
2)Heading north about 20 metres after the Campbell Town Pool in the
Yard of an old church.
Launceston, Tas:
Pitt Avenue between Cherry Road and Grinter Street, usually a marked
car and hand held 'radar gun'. Sometimes accompanied by a breatho
check.
Brighton, Tas:
Midlands Highway between Andrew Street and Bedford Street.
Favourite speed camera site.
Hobart speed camera vans, 30-12-97.
