Radar Detector Detectors (RDD)

Radar Detector Detectors (RDD) are a weapon in the police’s arsenal to catch drivers using Radar Detectors, which in Victoria is illegal to buy, sell, use and own. RDD take advantage of the presence of the local oscillator found in every superhetrodyne d etector. RDD’s which the Victorian Police Force use are modified confiscated RD’s which are retuned to pickup the 11.5GHz produced by nearly all RD’s. Note that a RDD cannot pickup a Radar Detector when it is not on, as it only produces emissions when it is operating. Every TOG branch usually has at least 1 RDD in their squad of cars. The NSW Police Force use the Canadian made VG-2 apparantly.
